I've never been to New York and was wondering if anybody here was getting together before the show. I would happily buy some folks here a beer in exchange for advice about how to get around New York and some cool places to see that may be off the regular tourist's radar. I am also trying to figure out how to get from Manhattan to Jones Beach and back without having to rent a car.

LIRR

LIRR to Freeport Station.
Get the N88 Bus which services the Jones Beach Theater.
Check with Long Island Bus for the last departure time. Last I knew, the last departure from Jones Beach is 10:50pm, that may adjust based on whether there is a concert or not.

Il'l be there:)

Will be in the parking lot with some friends before the show. Not sure if we are gonna tailgate and BBQ or eat before we get there. All weather depending.

Take the LIRR. If you need specific advice, I work for the LIRR as a Locomotive Engineer so drop me a note. I'll help you out on what ever you want to know about the city and Long Island, I am pretty good at it I have been told from helping others in the past.

IM heading in on the LIRR too right after work with plenty of cold beers for the short trip. Been years since ive seena show at jones and wondered they sell booze before the show or will i have to wander the parking lot looking for cool people tailgating for more beer?

I don't think they sell alcohol at all at JB. However, someone recently told me that they do sell at the venue, but cut off sales an hour and a half before showtime. The short of it is, look for cool people in the parking lot.

IM going to this show. How's the NY Rush crowd? Hopefully it will be pretty lively and one more thing will the place be packed???
The Macallan
NY Rush crowd probably like any other. You've got a big contingent of true fans who scream and shout and air drum and stand through the entire show. Then you've got some duds, who stand and vaguely take notice when the guys are playing Tom Sawyer, TSOR, etc.

Most lively NY Rush show I've ever been to was at Radio City on the R30 tour. The crowd was into it, the setting was legendary...t'was electric.

Me and CeeJ will be at this show too. Great seats. Indica got them for us. We were supposed to attend this one with him and Donna. Donna isn't going now. sad.gif We would LOVE to meet up with anyone from the boards. We're supposed to meetup with a few from RT and I know a few from TRF are gonna be there too. PM me.

The crowd will be decent. IMO, the shows in NJ have a bigger hardcore-fan audience. In NY, there are casual fans too, as were already discussed. Still, with no lawn, and a mezzanine replacing it, the crowd is much closer together and concentrated. You will hear a distinct roar here that you would not hear at other outdoor venues because of this. My favorite thing to do at a rush concert is to turn around and get the "Rush view" during the chorus of TSOR.

Anyone having a designated meet up spot?
If so, I will be there and wouldn't mind saying hello.

I wish I could do some tailgating before the show, but I will be coming direct from a wedding rehearsal dinner. I'm hoping that the concert doesn't start before 8.

Does anybody know regarding the parking situation if only the main north entrance is opened before the show (with the amphitheater in the near-left corner as you enter the lot), or do they also have the south entrace (off of Ocean Pkwy) opened as well with parking toll booths. Looking at a map, I think my shorter route from the dinner will be arriving westbound on Ocean Pkwy rather than taking Sunrise with traffic lights to the Wantagh Pkwy.

Usually both are opened going into the show.

Leaving is another situation as the one is closed.
Jotello
Thanks! Yeah, they usually keep only the south entrance/exit opened when everyone is leaving the show.

I’ll be taking the 4:52 out of Penn. Just in case there are issues with the trains, I’ll have time to hop out and start running.
