I know this might have been tried in the past, but I couldn't find a petition when I searched, so here goes. It will be interesting to me to see what response a thread like this gets. Perhaps if enough peeps post here saying how important a Vapour Trails remix/remaster would be to them the Rush camp will go ahead and kick it out and really do a bang-up job of it!

So, for me, it's very important. I love the songs. It's among my my top five favourite Rush albums. Please remix and/or remaster it. I would send a donation if money is an object.

I have a ton o' love for VT. And each time I listen to it, it takes more adjustment sonically, I can usually make it sound acceptable. I would love to see a remaster of this fantastic collection of music. I guess I just signed?

This is a clear and succinct analysis of why VT sounds as bad as it does( and folks, it DOES sound bad), along with most of the CDs released in the last ten years. The problem is the MASTERING. The tracking and mixing are fine. When the mix-down to two-track was delivered to the mastering house, THATS when the problem occurred. But the good news is: It CAN be remastered!

You must be deaf to not hear how bad this sounds, on any type of system: cheap low fi, mid-fi, or hi-fi, it doesn't matter!

When I 1st heard VT from the mp3's that leaked out I thought they were the problem. Then I got the album, and listened to it on my decent system and it was only worse...crackling speakers (voices tense, haha) popping, clipping, muddy mix; to this day I can barely listen to it, especially on the high mid-fi or low hi-fi system I have upgraded to since then (no other album I own or have heard sounds as bad as this, and the properly recorded ones sound incredible!). It sounds like they put a fucking bowl of rice krispies next to the mic during the whole process!

Rush and company totally fucked up and they need to fix their product, just like any other defective product that got out to the market! Besides, it's a tragedy that music of this caliber can not be properly appreciated the way it should, or at all. I can't even listen to the whole thing through on any type of medium I have, from mp3 player to dedicated 2.1 home system, it's too annoying.
