I'v already had my UK tickets delivered for Birmingham & Manchester, so I was wondering how soon they are sent out in the States as I am trusting International mail . When I booked in the Pre-sale Musictoday could not arrange Will Call tickets as they were separate to the venues allocation.

So you can all put me at rest by posting when your Kansas tickets arrive so I have an idea when to start panicking or not. I fly out on the 20th of August.

Thanks

I think it depends on who the vendor is. Ticketmaster is pretty quick about getting tickets out. However, Music Today just says a couple weeks prior. Any TM tickets I've purchased, I've receieved. Not so with Music Today.

I did get my tickets through ticketmaster so it may be differnt for you. Never used music today myself so dont really know. Still would think you will get them soon ticketmaster says you should get your tickets at least 2 weeks before but sends them out not long after you order. Still better than will call every time I use will call im always worried Ill get there and they will go nope sorry nothing for you. lol.

If you dont mind me asking how is it you end up coming to the KC show all the way from Wales? Didn't know ppl in Wales knew we was here:)

Thanks for the updates with the tickets just fingerscrossed on musictoday getting them across the pond in time!

Good question about Why Kansas?

People in Wales are puzzled when I say I'm gioing to Kansas .

I've done holidays to Florida but never seen the "real" US.
I've always wanted to see Rush in the US or Canada. The only dates I could have got to during my summer holidays(vacation) was Kansas , St Louis or Noblesville.
I would go to all three but had to draw the line somewhere (KC ,Birmingham & Manchester)

My wife made the mistake of saying well go if you want to!
When she came home from work it was all booked(except concert tickets).Got them in the PreSale.

My wife and two daughters 16 & 14 are all coming around to the idea now .They were expecting two weeks in Spain lying on a beach instead they are going to see Rush in Kansas. Its an adventure can't wait.
So I've been on the net and found lots of things for the family to do during the week that we are in KC.(20th to 27th)
Keeping the evening of the 23rd free of course.

Well two11two I hope that answers your question .

Regards from Sunny Wales(its normally raining)

kc is famous for its bbq. be sure to hit one of the more traditional bbq joints such as gates or bryants, in order to be sure you have experienced a true American delicacy. im from chicago originally, now living in michigan, but i always go down to kc to see rush because i have family there. kc is a great town. good food, good music, but very hot summer weather. enjoy.

That's one of the reasons I'm gonna catch this show too, PW.

I've never spent any 'time', per se, in Kansas City. I drove through it on our way to Saint Louis, and I have vague memories of stopping there and singing that "Kansas City" song at some BBQ place, but that's about it. Thought it would be a fun roadtrip to go to a show that isn't on The Left Coast, in a town I'm not familiar with, in a state I've spent maybe a day or two in.

I hear it has the potential to be hotter than sin, though!!! And if it's hot, humid, and I'm totally melting, be sure to say "Shut UP Julie when I spout: "I should have stayed in along the Pacific!!!" biggrin.gif

I can tell you the VT is by far the hottest concert I've ever been too. I think it was 108 or so that day.

Pray weather cooperates as well. For R30 they had it all wrapped up because of potential rain, but it never happened.

Lots of things to do in the KC area. You daughters may enjoy Worlds/Oceans of Fun if their in to the amusement park thing. I live a few hours north of KC, but get down there quite a bit. If you have any questions, please post or PM me.

Emotional Feedback
Late August is very very hot and extremely humid, so get ready.

I've lived here all my life, so might as well chime in with some recommendations on things to do / places to eat while you're here:

Make sure you experience KC-proper (Kansas City probaby more than most major cities is VERY sprawling with suburbs, so a lot of visitors will come here and think they've "experienced" KC, when in actuality they've been pretty much hanging out in Overland Park). One geographic thing you need to know about KC before coming here is that the city itself and the suburbs are split by the Kansas / Missouri state line, which confuses a lot of ppl who come here to visit. Downtown Kansas City is actually in Missouri - this is the KC that is referred to when mentioned in the national news. Kansas City, Kansas on the other hand is not the nicest of places and is very crime ridden, so you won't want to hang out there. However, suburb-wise, the Kansas 'burbs are probably the more tourist friendly as far as places to visit. It just depends I suppose, but just know that the city of KC is probably 2/3 in Missouri and 1/3 in Kansas ....

Now as far as places to visit:

Definitely go to the Country Club Plaza and Westport (Plaza is more for shopping and "upper scale" entertainment, while Westport is the bar scene). Nicely, they are right next door to each other so this is a great place to start.

Also, venture into downtown and go to Union Station, eat in the freight house disctrict - Jack Stack Barbecue off about 20th and Baltimore is the best "nice" sit-down BBQ restaurant. As far as the authenic BBQ pits (where you go up to a counter and place your order), definitely go to either Arthur Bryant's off 17th and Brooklyn Blvd, or Gates (12th and Brooklyn or 32nd and Main, as well as 5 or 6 other locations in the 'burbs). These are great for lunch, where the nicer sit down BBQ restaurants (like Jack Stack) are great for dinner. KC is also known throughout the country for their steak restaurants - you can't go wrong with a steak at these downtown establishments - Hereford House, The Majestic, Pierpont's, Savoy Grill.

What else? Oh - hit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in the historic jazz district of 18th and Vine.

Right now there is a LOT of construction going on downtown - we are currently in the middle of a half billion dollars of projects. Next year most of them will be up and running (new Sprint Center arena, new downtown entertainment district called the Power and Light district), but you'll still be able to find a lot of stuff to do during your stay. The Country Club Plaza and Westport, as mentioned, can occupy a few days by themselves.

Also, just so you know, Rush is playing at Verizon Amphitheater (formally Sandstone) in a smaller city VERY west of the KC metropolitan area called Bonner Springs, Kansas. Expect a pretty long drive between KC and Bonner Springs (a good half hour without traffic). However, it is VERY worth staying in the KC area as there is not much to do out in good ol' Bonner Springs.

Anyways... have fun!

Have not had chance to check the site the last few days, but this is great just the advice and help I was hoping for thanks to everyone .

Hope we get to meet some or all of you.

PW ,Mrs PW and family.

Hey PW just wondering have you got your tickets yet?
Permanent_Wales
No I'm still waiting.
Music today said that they would e mail me prior to shipping. I check everyday sometimes more than once. My credit card bill showed the purchase so I'm confident but still anxious.

Anyway the Kansas threads had gone a bit quiet so its good to hear from across the pond.

It won't be long now before the tour gets underway.

So I will have to check more often!

regards

see you all in KC
