I grew up in Albany and went to my first rock concert at SPAC (Loverboy, I shit you not! Hey, at least Zebra opened up!) In the later 80's I saw many concerts there - some from the front row -my girlfriend's grandmother was a member or something and gave us tickets for the rock shows. I saw Robert Plant, Def Leppard, Heart and others from the front row. I went to many other shows there Stevie Ray Vaughn, Aerosmith w/ Guns and Roses, The Grateful Dead, Beach Boys, on and on. Probably 3 dozen shows. I also used to go with my family to see the Philadelphia orchestra play and we'd get lawn seats and pack a picnic. I love the setting in the woods with the springs, etc. Needless to say, the memories run deep. I've long since moved out of the area - but now I will return to see my favorite (RUSH!!) there for the first time! Can't wait!!!!!

My 1 and only time there was for Vapor Trails & I couldn't agree with you more. This place ROCKS! Nothing better than being in the middle of a forest & having Rush playing 'The Trees'.
What tour did you see Robert Plant there? I bet he was digging the vibe of that venue, he puts on a great show when he's in a good mood...

I agree. I can not think of a better venue to see a concert than SPAC (except maybe Red Rocks). First concert at SPAC = Huey Lewis (and yes, I too, shit you not). It also helps that SPAC is about a 3 minute drive from my home...

One of my fav places too! Use to go there a lot in the 80's!
Section 11 Orchestra, JJ, seats 1-4....can't wait!

Most of the concerts I've seen were at SPAC. First one was Mr Mister (mid 1980s, welcome to the real world tour). Since have seen Dave Matthews, Alman Brothers, Moody Blues several times (mother was a fan)...
Been to Tanglewood once and the (now) Times Union arena in Albany a few times. SPAC is leaps and bounds over the rest.
Looking forward to June 30th.

SPAC is up on my list, as is Alpine.
My favorites remain Red Rocks and , of course, The Gorge !!
