I hope they plan on leaving WAY early. The border could/should be a disaster on July 4.

I've signed up for this. I haven't taken a party bus since high school. Mind you, back then it was a smoke filled school bus going from Oshawa to Maple Leaf Gardens. This one sounds more classy. BigshiteatinGrin.gif

Does anybody know what time the bus is currently scheduled to leave? It's tempting to avoid having to drive to DL, but with all the planned driving around TO to the park...and then getting over the border on a July 4th, I think is asking to be late(or later than I'd like to get there).

I may just stick to driving, and go over the border at 1,000 Islands. Should avoid any major hassles that way.

Why would the border be extra busy on July 4th. Could it be all the Americans trying to escape?
I thought most Americans stay in doors on that day with their families.

Morning Brian, headache of yesterday gone??

Morning Chelskiboy(or should that be CarlsbergBoy),

As you know, July 4th is US Independence Day from those oppressive Brits, thus being a holiday. It's also soon after the July 1st Canada Day holiday, so lots of people are travelling. Security at the US border has been much more thorough, and is ramped up even further on holidays, thus causing long lines & waiting. And who stays indoors on a summer day anyways?

And no, I still have a headache/hangover from trying to negotiate on the computer 6 different pre-sales for 3 different cities, while talking on the phone to AMEX at the same time. Getting banned on 2 different computers from Ticketmaster, didn't help things either. nanastyle.gif angryfire.gif

At least the Sens won last night! gonana.gif pbj.gif

No Carlsberg here!!!!

Sens winning was a good end to a tough day.

Around the Buffalo area, that whole week is a mess. With it being a week-long Independence celebration in this region, plus the proximity to Niagara Falls, two hour delays are probably not uncommon at all of the crossings. Trust me. Leave plenty of extra time to get there if you are coming from accross the border.

Even the drive out the Thruway to Darien Lake from Buffalo could be bad. The backups at the wonderful toll plazas can be bad on these holiday times too.

Sorry for the late response!! I just got re-registered on here a couple days ago and wasn't able to post until now.

Here's the tentative timeline (subject to change if things get ugly at the border)

Timeline:

10:45 am Meet in Days Hotel lobby for check in
11:00 am Bus departs from Days Hotel
12:30 pm Lakeside Park - buffet lunch at Port Mansion Restaurant
1:15 pm Free time at Lakeside Park to walk around
2:00 pm Depart from Lakeside Park for Buffalo
(we are not sure how long it will take to cross the border on the July 4 holiday... so we want to give ourselves plenty of time)
4:00 pm Cash bar / hors d'oeuvres -- (time permitting, depending on border crossing)
6:30 pm Arrive at Darien Lake venue
8:00 pm Rush Concert
11:30 pm Concert ends, people get back to bus.
11:45 pm Depart from Darien Lake
2:00 am Arrive at Days hotel

We've left plenty of time to get across the border, and we're using CAA (Canada's version of AAA) to organize the trip, so they're pretty familiar with the process / issues of getting us across on that day.

Also we've left the schedule pretty flexible and have plenty of refreshments and things to do on the bus, just to be on the safe side.

We still have a few spots left, and registration has been extended until June 29th... so if you wanna go, now's the time! smile.gif
